Our Approach

The LEYF approach to training

Action research lies at the heart of our approach to training, where practical lessons learned in our 21 nurseries are embedded directly into our range of original and practical programmes.

As an attendee you will benefit from a child-centred and nursery tested approach - one developed by practitioners for practitioners – along with our growing understanding of brain development and neuroscience which underpins everything we do.

The success and popularity of our programmes can often be attributed to the importance we place on attendees being fully prepared before they arrive, and the attention we pay to follow-ups and post course reviews.

Our Ethos

At the CRLD, we firmly believe that truly effective learning takes place when learners have ownership of the teaching and learning process, and that the learning should be easily translated into practice.

In simple terms, this means our programmes are learner-led, facilitated by practitioners for practitioners, and that nursery staff are encouraged to engage in their personal development.

This in turn creates a virtuous circle of learning, with staff carrying out action-research in their nurseries, writing articles in credible early years’ publications, speaking at conferences, supporting the training of apprentices and attending additional CPD courses.
